Today we had a tarmac drive and steps to clean for one of our regular window cleaning customers.
The tarmac was covered in moss in places and slippery. The steps were also really dirty and required cleaning.
Moss from exterior surfaces such as block paving, patio slabs etc can normally be removed by jet Washing if the surfaces are in good condition. The problem arises when you have moss growing on tarmac.
Pressure/jet Washing can easily damage the surfaces of the tarmac (especially if using a turbo nozzle). Pressure washing using a fan jet can be safely used on tarmac but struggles to remove the moss which embeds into the surface of the tarmac.
We decided to use our specialist flat surface cleaner which can remove up to 95% of the moss without any damage to the tarmac.
Later when the weather is dry, we will apply Mossoff (chemical free) to the tarmac which will overtime kill the remaining moss and prevent the moss from regrowing for up to a year.
